I can not believe in the Gay capital of the East Coast....
A tourist from California
a church being persecuted.
I have ever heard. This is the first true persecution of
The almighty dollar is trying to spread its wings....
This is a VERY UNPOPULAR LAW and it will not aid the City of Ft. Lauderdale in attracting more tourists. This is going to loose votes and revenue for the City of Ft. Lauderdale.
I have worked in Fort Lauderdale for over 3 years and now live here. I love this city; and it reminds me of my hometown of Newark.
Hang the Mayor, this is the biggest piece of bullshit....
the Dick must be a republican...
Everyone understands that the government is not supplying all that is needed for these people. It requires many organizations to do this. This law has run out of town many churches and organizations that have been providing free food, clothing and haircuts for the homeless for many years.
My family had planned to spend some time in Fort Lauderdale for our winter vacation. No longer...we have reassessed and will skip this area. Who knows what other ridiculous laws you have thought up. A town that outlaws feeding their poor and homeless is not for us. You will probably not miss the few thousand dollars we would have spent in your town but I am hopeful that more people will follow suit and cut your town out of their plans.
I watched the interview between Mr. Abbott and Mayor Jack Seiler. The city's position is a weak one.
The issue stems that in order to whip out tables and food to form a gathering; like in ANY city, there are proper channels for permits. Nobody in ANY city will simply allow you to solicit the homeless.....and I say solicit because you are prepping a table and forming a gathering.
Regarding the issues I'm reading about Mr. Abbott and feeding the homeless; the issue has never been that Fort Lauderdale doesn't allow the feeding of the homeless.
I'm just saying. Responses are allowed as long as its courteous and professional.....not trashy. Thanks.
To The Mayor or Fort Lauderdale,
It would be unconstitutional to not be allowed to feed the homeless. But no one can simply just whip out a table and feed a gathering in public property. No city technically allows it; not just Fort Lauderdale.
This law seems unconstitutional to me. When any government starts passing laws as to where and under what conditions people can help others for free, it crosses a line.
This ticket was put on my car while I was delivering a pizza from the neighborhood PizzaHut. After working here for four- five months ;I have Delivered at this same location on numerous occasions and have always parked in their same spot with my hazards on(Pizza Hut in this area only delivers to this zip code). Upon my return back to my vehicle(6minutes later)A 30$ ticket for not feeding a meter that I wasn't even in use of. If this isn't harassment, I don't know what is. I will be fighting this ticket . I just thought the mayor would like to have some say so in the harassment of the hard working citizens of Fort Lauderdale, like myself . I will also be contacting the news .
This issue has and continues to be overblown. I was there when it occurred. I was there when Mr. Abbott was removed from the premises.
