This museum should be in Miami not Fort Lauderdale
We stopped into the gallery on a whim. I was curious about the art work of Purvis Young there whom I had not heard of. The more I looked, I became completely enthralled with the emotion and life experience that were captured on any and every kind of surface. Many were created on scrap paper or old Masonite with the most simple of mediums. Things one would consider garbage became his canvas , but really only added another level to his story and art. The courage and fearlessness of his work was really moving. I believe many of us probably have great art within us ,but we lack the confidence and deem ourselves as lacking proper space, tools, or instruction. Purvis Young transcends all of the obstacles that could have held his work captive. I was completely inspired and grateful for his passion and genius. Funny thing is that I am not generally a fan of abstract type art.
